Not to start this post all melodramatic but the curse of 2017 continues! We are currently staying in my parents lovely condo in NE Portland (thanks Mom and Dad!) while the Airstream is back in the shop AGAIN. As you may recall, we had the floor replaced in May (which resulted in our stay in the Lucy & Desi loaner!). A couple months after we got the Airstream back, we noticed a weird discoloration on the floor between the shower and bathroom. At first, we thought it was just some bleeding color from rug we had there (yes, we were in denial that there was another problem!) But eventually realized we had another major issue as the discolored area was spreading. So the Airstream went back in to the Service Dept. to get it checked out and lo and behold, we had another leak. And the floor would need to be replaced again. They fixed the leak and then we decided to wait on the floor replacement until we were able to schedule a time to stay in the condo - as fun as living Lucy & Desi style was, it was a big hassle to move everything in to another Airstream.
The leak was supposedly fixed but the stain on the floor continued to spread to at least a 6 foot area. Last Wednesday, we brought the poor Airstream back to the Service Dept. for at least another 3 weeks to get the floor replaced and fingers crossed, no other huge issues discovered. It's been a week and we haven't heard anything yet - Bill is planning to go check it out once the floor is ripped out so we know what we are dealing with. To say we are frustrated is an understatement.
But I'm always a silver lining kind of gal so the bonus is that we have a lovely little condo in Portland to stay in during the Thanksgiving holidays. And can catch up with friends without doing the hour commute from Newberg! Sweet Inga girl is hanging in there and Bill is getting a work-out carrying her down the 2 flights of stairs when she has to go outside. It's not ideal but we feel incredibly fortunate to have the condo as an option - since ya know, we have to take our whole house in for these fixes!
Since I don't want to share just boring sad Airstream floor pics, I'm including some shots from our trip to Mexico. We had the awesome opportunity to photograph the Ethereum Foundation Devcon3 conference in Cancun, Mexico the first week of November. So of course, we added a little extra time to do some exploring - including a fabulous stay on Isla Mujeres in a dreamy Airbnb and then a quick road trip to Chichen Itza and another awesome Airbnb with the best host - thank you Luis! Bill's highlight of the trip was meeting two of the Aquabats in front of Chichen Itza - so random and fabulous. They were on a day trip from docking in Cozumel for The Warped Rewind at Sea cruise (ha!)
Stay tuned for more exciting Airstream repair drama - we are hoping it's done in 3 weeks but honestly at this point, who knows??
This hot mess. Sigh.
